The Communication Book is a helpful tool on 1Campus. It is designed to reduce the communication gap between parents and teachers and help students with their daily schoolwork.

OVERVIEW
1Campus is a single-account login platform for educators, students, and parents. The communication book not only allows for a smooth flow of information between educators, students, and parents but also helps teachers keep track of events.
BACKGROUND
In Taiwan, classroom teachers usually communicate directly with parents only in case of emergency, but usually through paper communication books to keep parents informed of students' learning at school. Students can also write down their homework, to-do lists, and tests for tomorrow in the communication book.
However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, students were required to attend school at home. This made it difficult to coordinate assignments and communication between parents and teachers... This communication book tool is designed to solve these problems!
THE COMMUNICATION BOOK IN PAPER
Since the communication book plays a role as a bridge between teachers, students, and parents, it is very difficult for all of them to get complete information during this pandemic. So, a communication book is not useful when students can not attend school on-site. We are going to figure this out!

Pain points
Teachers
● Use personal chat account joining a class group chat and announce information in the group chat.
● Important info is easily washed out in the group chat.
● If a teacher leads many classes, they will have many group chats.
● Parents can easily send messages to teachers after work time.
Parents
● Can not assistant their children's homework or class matters without the paper communication book.
● If parents having more than one child, it would be even more difficult because different teachers might use different platforms.
Students
● Important info or homework info is easily washed out in the group chat.
● Difficult to track if all homework are done when they have to check on many platforms. It is even harder for K-1 to k-3 students.
What are we going to do for each audience?
Teachers
● Communicate with parents without using their personal line accounts.
● Easier tracking homework returning or class matters progression.
Parents
● Mark items were done.
● Mark items as important.
● Record grades for each test.
● Add events to local the calendar.
Students
● Find the info of homework from all subjects, to-dos and teachers' comments at a one place.
● Mark items done.

Information Architecture
Since the Communication Book App will be embedded on a one-single sign on platform, 1Campus, all the info of teachers, students, parents, classes, and courses will be already provided. Our team would focus on those functions that this app will need.embedded
User Flow
Writing all the steps out helped us have clear ideas to know how to sketch out wireframes. At the same time, we could check if there was any error process!
Final Design
When the design direction was clear and established, we began creating the structure, hierarchy of the design, and the aesthetic treatments!
